Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Missions Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with significant enthusiasm, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are voicing discontent with several of the title's toughest challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.

Gamers have begun resorting to custom matches made via the Portal feature to complete them, emphasizing just how arduous these assignments have become.

Grasping BF6 Objectives

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. It features four types of assignments, but where most only reward outfits and select equipment, finishing the gun missions is the only way of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one primary weapons found within the game.

A number of these gated guns could shortly find their way on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration via Reddit

On Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. One user highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is highly imprecise and only works at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you want to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Extremely Difficult Task

One more community participant brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with marksman guns

This is difficult enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine levels in the game currently, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and maybe a classic map if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.

The Alternative Method

There is a workaround though: the portal. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This allows you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.

However, when doing the challenges in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for grinding them out in a personal session so allies are not impaired?

Upcoming Tweaks

It is expected if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

Currently, the community continues to share their thoughts on these challenging battlefield assignments, hoping for a more balanced gaming experience in future updates.
