Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Arrives, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. There, he will encounter a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Beloved Titles
Similar to the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The film will see the return of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut around the time of the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
